The present work investigates the Canarian road freight transport sector, during the period from
2012 to 2018, observing its evolution after the end of the economic crisis. In addition, specific
objectives are pursued such as determining the influence of belonging to one province or another
in the archipelago and making a comparison at the national level.
To this end, an economic and financial analysis of the aggregate annual accounts of a
representative sample of companies is carried out, studying the main indicators that shed light on
changes in the asset structure and performance of the companies.
In short, we have observed that the Canary Islands sector evolved positively with levels that are
higher than the national average, presenting, at both levels financial balance, as well as sufficient
solvency and liquidity to face the debts that have been contracted. The companies belonging to the
province of S/C of Tenerife also present better results.
