Las relaciones entre Cuba y Estados Unidos.

Abstract

The relationship between Cuba and United States has been one of the most controversial on the international scene. Its origin date back to the 19th century, but it was from the 20th century in when the tension between each country reached the highest point: decolonization, socialist revolution, missile crisis and boycott are some of the events that have defined these relationships. The end of the Cold War and the disappearance of the Soviet Union did not improved the situation between Washington and Havana. Therefore, we focus on the hypothesis of two main internal factors to explain why the relationship between both countries were so odd. The opening turn towards Cuba impregnated by the Obama administration and its involution by that of Trump seems to confirm this tesis

Las relaciones entre Cuba y Estados Unido han sido una de las más controvertidas del panorama internacional. Su origen se remonta al siglo XIX, pero fue a partir del XX cuando esa tensión se visualizó de manera más evidente: descolonización, revolución socialista, crisis de los misiles y boicot son algunos de los hechos que han definido estas relaciones. El fin de la Guerra Fría y la desaparición de la Unión Soviética no distensionaron las relaciones entre Washington y La Habana. De aquí que en este trabajo se apunte la hipótesis de los factores internos para explicar la ausencia de normalidad en las relaciones entre ambos países. El giro de apertura hacia Cuba impregnado por la administración Obama y su involución por la de Trump parece confirmar esta tesis.
