Análisis del movimiento Zero Waste como método para el desarrollo sostenible y su posible aplicación en el sector hotelero en la isla de Tenerife

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es la investigación del movimiento Zero Waste y todos los ámbitos que este envuelve; para así, comprobar si los hoteles de la isla de Tenerife podrían desarrollar su actividad de una forma más sostenible con el medio ambiente. Analizando al mismo tiempo en qué medida se llevan a cabo prácticas sostenibles en estos hoteles en la actualidad; y así, comprobar si van por buen camino en materia de sostenibilidad o aún les queda un largo camino por recorrer para poder considerar que respetan el medio ambiente. La metodología a seguir será la investigación del tema para posteriormente realizar un cuestionario con el que se pueda valorar las prácticas sostenibles que llevan a cabo ahora mismo estos hoteles. Entre las conclusiones más importantes cabe destacar que la isla posee todas las características necesarias para hacer del sector hotelero un sector más sostenible y respetuoso con el entorno, por lo que no debería de haber ninguna excusa para no practicar una actividad más respetuosa con el medio.

The objective of this project is the investigation of the Zero Waste Movement and all the areas that it involves, in order to confirm if Tenerife island hotels could develop their activity in a more environmentally sustainable way. Analysing at the same time in which measure do hotels accomplish sustainable practices currently, to confirm if they are on the right track in terms of sustainability or still have a long way to go to be able to consider that they are environmentally friendly. The methodology to be followed will be the investigation of the subject to later make a survey with the purpose of evaluating the sustainable practices that these hotels are accomplishing right now. Among the most important conclusions, it should be pointed out that the island has all the necessary characteristics to make the hotel sector a more sustainable and respectful sector with the environment, so there should be no excuse for not practicing a more respectful activity with the environment.
