Las ediciones de «Idea del teatro» de José Ortega y Gasset algunas notas críticas

Abstract

El estudio de las sucesivas publicaciones de la conferencia que José Ortega y Gasset pronunció dos veces en 1946 con el título «Idea del teatro», lleva a la conclusión de que han sido tres las ediciones (1946, 1958, 1982) publicadas hasta ahora. En las tres el sentido de las ideas filosóficas parece coincidir, pero no sucede lo mismo con las expresiones que sitúan esas ediciones en dos ambientes geográficos e históricos muy diferentes: 13 de abril en Lisboa, 4 de mayo en Madrid. Las variantes textuales, los pasajes suprimidos, las notas, anejos y apéndices añadidos obligan a leer cada una de las ediciones, si se quiere entender lo que Ortega dijo literalmente y lo que quiso decir metafórica e irónicamente.

From the study of the successive publications of the lecture entitled «Idea del teatro» («Idea of drama »), that José Ortega y Gasset gave twice in 1946, it can be inferred that three editions (1946, 1958, 1982) have been published up to the present. Whereas the sense of the philosophic ideas seems to coincide, the situation changes in relation to the expressions that place the three editions in two quite different geographic and historical settings: 13th April in Lisbon, 4th May in Madrid. The textual variants, the omitted passages, the notes, the additional attachments and appendices make it necessary to read each of the editions if what Ortega said literally and what he meant metaphorically and ironically is to be suitably understood.
