Culpa en mujeres maltratadas por su pareja

El objetivo del presente trabajo es estudiar la culpa en mujeres maltratadas por
su pareja usuarias de servicios de emergencia y acogida, analizando tanto la frecuencia
con la que la mujer se siente culpable como la culpabilización por parte del agresor y los
factores con los que se asocia. Se realizó un estudio transversal con una muestra formada
por 99 mujeres maltratadas por su pareja con edades comprendidas entre 19 y 62 años
que eran usuarias de un servicio de emergencia y acogida para víctimas de violencia de
género. Se encontró que solo la cuarta parte de las mujeres no tenía sentimientos de culpa
y que la mayoría era culpabilizada por parte del agresor. La culpa era independiente de
las características sociodemográficas de las mujeres (edad, nivel de estudios y número de
hijos/as), de la edad del agresor y del número de denuncias interpuestas por la mujer. Sin
embargo, los sentimientos de culpa sí se asociaban con mayor sintomatología de
depresión, ansiedad, estrés postraumático y con una autoestima más baja y menor
confianza en sí mismas de las mujeres. Además, la culpabilización por el agresor se
asociaba con mayor intensidad de la violencia ejercida hacia la mujer. The aim of this work is to study guilt in women abused by their partner, who
users of emergency and shelter resources for victims of gender violence; analyzing both
the frequency the woman feels guilty and the blame on the part of the aggressor and the
factors which they are associated with. A cross-sectional study was carried out with a
sample comprised of 99 women mistreated by their partner between the ages of 19 and
62, who were users of an emergency and shelter resources for victims of gender violence.
It was found that only a quarter of the women had no feelings of guilt and that the majority
were blamed by the aggressor. Guilt was independent of the sociodemographic
characteristics of the women (age, educational level and number of children), the age of
the aggressor and the number of complaints filed. But feelings of guilt were associated
with the development in victims of greater symptoms of depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress and with lower self-esteem and less self-confidence. In addition, blame
for the aggressor was associated with greater intensity of violence against women
