Abandono prematuro en educación secundaria: una revisión sistemática

Abstract

El abandono escolar prematuro es uno de los principales problemas del sistema educativo español. En este estudio de revisión sistemática se pretende analizar el abandono educativo prematuro en la educación secundaria. En concreto pretendemos: 1) determinar si existen medidas educativas para prevenir o reducir el abandono escolar prematuro, 2) conocer cuáles son los factores más influyentes en el abandono prematuro, 3) identificar el perfil del alumnado en riesgo de abandono o que ha abandonado el sistema educativo, y 4) analizar el papel de las familias y el profesorado ante esta problemática. El método utilizado ha seguido las directrices de la declaración PRISMA. La investigación se ha llevado a cabo mediante el análisis de 15 artículos. Los resultados se han comparado con revisiones previas; finalmente se discute la necesidad de dotar a los centros con recursos para poder implantar medidas y programas preventivos que ayuden a reducir el riesgo de abandono.

Early school leaving is one of the main problems of the Spanish education system. This systematic review study aims to analyze early school leaving in secondary education. Specifically, we aim: 1) to determine whether there are educational measures to prevent or reduce early school leaving, 2) to know which are the most influential factors in early school leaving, 3) to identify the profile of students at risk of dropping out or who have dropped out of the educational system, and 4) to analyze the role of families and teachers in dealing with this problem. The method used has followed the guidelines of the PRISMA statement. The research has been carried out through the analysis of 15 articles. The results have been compared with previous reviews; finally the need to provide the centres with resources to be able to implement preventive measures and programmes to help reduce the risk of early school leaving is discussed.
