Nanotechnology applied in the pharmaceutical industry has a promising future
in many fields of work; diagnostic techniques and drug administration, but it must be
taken into account that it is relatively recent, largely coarse and therefore it is found in
a universe of research and studies. However, all of them depend, among other
properties, on the stability of the nanostructures that are elaborated for their different
purposes, in order to subsequently verify the safety and efficacy of their formulations.
In this work, different stability studies were carried out for hybrid lipid-polymer
nanoparticles in suspension, at different temperatures and during different periods of
time. Markers to fix the stability of nanoparticles dependent on various size-dependent
properties, such as their composition, size, shape, and their surface potential.
The results show that the hybrid nanoparticles in suspension have an acceptable
monodisperse mean size distribution (< 150 nm with a polydispersion index less than
the 0.2) and a practically constant surface potential when kept at room temperature and
4°C.Thus manifesting the optimal maintenance conditions to preserve the stability of
the hybrid nanoparticles after their elaboration. However, we must continue to look for
alternatives, because many of the active substances to be formulated in nanoparticles
may require freezing to maintain their therapeutic properties.
