In the following research work issues of great importance in society are addressed, such as
disability and informal caregivers.
The main objective of this work is to know the perception of informal caregivers of
people with disabilities about the health and social damages generated by caregiving.
Because, not having the basic knowledge about care or the necessary help to develop care
properly, aspects of health are harmed, both physically and psychologically.
In addition, the social sphere is negatively affected because in many cases social
relations are neglected as a result of they are one hundred percent dedicated to care.
This research work has been developed through the questionnaire instrument, that has
been disseminated in the Occupational Center "Los Alisios", in order to the families of the
users of that center answer me, and thus be able to know different aspects that are considered
relevant to understand the reality of informal caregivers.
The population group to which this research work is directed has a task in society of
great importance, and at the same time, this work are invisibilized in it. The work of an
informal caregiver is a job that is performed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and
on a voluntary basis.
The main results of the research show that, according to the perception of the
participants, care does indeed generate negative effects on health, since without the help and
collaboration of other family members or external agents, the physical and psychological
health of the informal caregiver is seriously impaired.
