Competitividad de la industria manufacturera medida por su rentabilidad y solvencia: análisis comparativo de las comunidades autónomas de Canarias y Baleares

Abstract

La industria manufacturera de una economía es uno de los principales motores de crecimiento y desarrollo económico y social de un país. En lo que respecta a España, según el último dato disponible, que corresponde al año 2019, el principal motor de la economía es servicios, seguido a distancia por la industria. En Canarias, el peso de los servicios en la economía es mayor que en el conjunto de España y el peso de la industria es menor. Este trabajo se centrará en evaluar el comportamiento de la industria manufacturera de Canarias y Baleares, medida por su rentabilidad, solvencia y liquidez como variables relevantes para la determinación de competitividad, analizando dichos indicadores financieros en el periodo 2016 - 2019 para ambas regiones, según la fuente de información SABI. La conclusión final es que la industria manufacturera Balear es más solvente y gestiona mejor sus recursos para poder seguir con su actividad.

The manufacturing industry of an economy is one of the main engines of growth and economic and social development of a country. With regard to Spain, according to the latest data available (2019), the main engine of the economy is services, followed at a distance by industry. In the Canary Islands, the weight of services in the economy is greater than in the whole of Spain and the weight of industry is less. This work will focus on evaluating the behavior of the manufacturing industry in the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands, measured by its profitability, solvency and liquidity as relevant variables for determining competitiveness, analyzing these financial indicators in the period 2016 - 2019 for both regions according to the source of SABI information. The final conclusion is that the Balearic manufacturing industry is more solvent and better manages its resources to be able to continue with its activity.
