In recent years, solidarity tourism has been gaining more and more prominence and there are
already many people who make this type of trip. This tourist trend is emerging to alleviate the main
disadvantages of mass tourism and is based not only on the personal enjoyment of the traveller
but also on the improvement of the ecosystem and the local populations of the destinations. The
motivations that lead tourists to carry out this type of trips are varied, although the vast majority
agree on the same thing: the ability to help others. Currently, this modality faces criticism that calls
into question its alternative and sustainable nature. For this reason, it needs to be properly
managed in order to mitigate some of its effects and thus make it a great fool for fairer and more
responsible tourism.
