Análisis de la concentración bancaria en España

Abstract

En este informe se analiza la concentración bancaria en España a través de dos descriptores distintos, Índice de Herfindahl e Índice de Gini, con la finalidad, no sólo de dar conclusiones acerca de la concentración bancaria con la variable número de oficinas en el ámbito estatal español, autonómico canario y provincial de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, sino que además se busca corroborar si dichas afirmaciones son fehacientes o no, con datos totalmente objetivos. Por otra parte, también se estudia la concentración bancaria en España con la variable Total Activo, planteando tres escenarios diferentes y analizándolos a través del Índice de Herfindahl. En definitiva, es un estudio exhaustivo de las principales variaciones que ha sufrido la concentración bancaria en España en los últimos cinco años, apoyado de gráficas representativas que reflejan el comportamiento de dicha concentración.

In this report, bank concentration in Spain is analyzed through two different descriptors, Herfindahl Index and Gini Index, in order not only to give conclusions about bank concentration with the variable number of branches at the Spanish state level, in the Canarian autonomous region and the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, but to corroborate whether these statements are reliable or not, with totally objective data. On the other hand, bank concentration in Spain is also studied with the Total Assets variable, posing three different scenarios and analyzing them through the Herfindahl Index. In short, it is an exhaustive study of the main variations that banking concentration has suffered in Spain in the last five years, supported by representative graphs that reflect the behavior of said concentration
