Terapia miofuncional en la deglución atípica

Abstract

La deglución atípica es un mecanismo anómalo que consiste en la colocación inadecuada de la lengua en el momento de tragar el alimento. Ésta provoca alteraciones anatómicas diversas, las cuales son tratadas a través de un tratamiento ortodóncico y/o terapia miofuncional. Esta terapia comprende un conjunto de procedimientos y técnicas utilizadas con el fin de obtener la corrección del desequilibrio muscular orofacial, Los objetivos de este trabajo son: investigar la relación existente entre la deglución atípica y la mordida abierta anterior, averiguando cuál es la causa y cuál la consecuencia de este trastorno, e identificar diferentes maniobras y técnicas de terapia miofuncional para la rehabilitación de la deglución atípica. Para ello, se ha realizado una búsqueda en diversas fuentes de información y bases de datos como: Pubmed, punto Q, Dialnet, Google académico y la biblioteca de la Universidad de La Laguna. En cuanto al primer objetivo, los autores mantienen diferentes posiciones acerca de qué precede a que en relación a la deglución atípica y la mordida abierta. En relación al segundo objetivo, se han obtenido un conjunto de procedimientos ampliamente descritos para tratar la deglución atípica.

Atypical swallowing is an anomalous mechanism that consists in an inappropiate tonge position when swallowing occurs. This kind of swallowing produce anatomical abnormalities which are treated through orthodontic treatment and/or myofunctional therapy. This therapy is a set of procedures and techniques used in order to obtain the orofacial imbalance correction. The objectives of this study are: to investigating the relationship between atypical swallowing and anterior open bite, figuring out which is the cause and the consequence of this disorder, and identify differents myofunctional therapy techniques for atypical swallowing treatment. The research has been done on various information sources and databases such as Pubmed, Punto Q, Dialnet, Google Scholar and the library of the University of La Laguna. Regarding the first objective, the authors maintain different points of view about if atypical swallowing is the cause or the consequence of open bite. Acording to the second objective, it has obtained a set of extensive and innovative procedures of atypical swallowing treatment.
