Imaginando vivencias a través del urbex. Una forma de prototurismo posindustrial suburbano

Abstract

Este artículo analiza el fenómeno de la exploración urbana, urbex, y su relación con el turismo industrial. Esta actividad pone a sus practicantes en conexión con el pasado y con otras formas de producción en ocasiones ya perdidas a través de la exploración del patrimonio industrial. El objetivo del estudio es analizar esa conexión entre el urbex y el turismo desde una perspectiva antropológica. A través del método etnográfico entramos en un mundo de difícil acceso, contactando para ello con un grupo de urbexers, y utilizando también la etnografía virtual. Los resultados de la investigación nos muestran que esta práctica, que se da en la fase intermedia o de abandono del patrimonio y que se sitúa entre la actividad industrial y la posible musealización futura o la demolición final, podría tener connotaciones turísticas desde un punto de vista cultural.

This article discusses the phenomenon of urban exploration, urbex, and its relationship with industrial tourism. This activity connects practitioners with the past and with other forms of production sometimes lost through the exploration of industrial heritage. The objective of the study is to analyse the connection between the urbex and tourism from an anthropological perspective. Ethnographics allowed us to contact with groups of urbexers, using virtual ethnography. The results of the research show that this practice, which occurs in the intermediate phase or the abandonment of heritage and is situated between industrial activity and possible future musealisation or final demolition, may have connotations for tourism besides great implications from a cultural point of view.
