The lack of response of the immune system known as immunodeficiency causes an
increased likelihood of disease or new infections, so patients suffering from it are more susceptible
immunologically and should be protected against diseases such as hepatitis B. According to the
vaccination schedule, the entire population should be vaccinated against this virus in childhood and in
the case of people at risk this vaccine is administered again as a preventive measure. Over the years it
has been observed that this revaccination does not always work and there is a large percentage of
patients who do not respond to it. The aim of this study is to know the number of responders and nonresponders to this vaccine in the Preventive Medicine Department of the Hospital Universitario
Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria. After knowing the data on the response to the vaccine and compiling
all the information through the databases provided by the hospital, the patients were analyzed by sex,
age and pathology. In the sample obtained, 867 patients, we found numerous pathologies that were
classified to obtain clearer results. We find digestive, rheumatic, neurological, dermatological,
respiratory and even ophthalmological pathologies, among others. When analyzing the data we find
that, within the non-responders, liver transplant and bone marrow transplant stand out, while within
the responders, HIV patients, chronic kidney disease-hemodialysis and immunosuppression patients
stand out; rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and inflammatory bowel disease. In addition, we
recommend the follow-up of persons at risk of exposure, not only patients referred from the services.
