Estudio comparativo entre la banca ética y tradicional: una propuesta de índice de banca ética.

Abstract

El presente trabajo analiza el surgimiento e impacto del modelo de banca ética en el sistema financiero. El objetivo principal es examinar cómo este nuevo enfoque plantea una forma alternativa de hacer banca, abogando por la ética y responsabilidad medioambiental. Para lograr esto, se examinan los principios que guían a la banca ética y se compara con el enfoque tradicional, tomando como referente de banca ética a Triodos Bank y de banca tradicional al banco Santander. Para evaluar si es posible lograr rentabilidad al mismo tiempo que se sigue una conducta ética, se analizan diferentes indicadores económico financieros de los dos modelos, y también se comparan los servicios y productos financieros que ofrecen cada uno. Por último, se examina la viabilidad de medir la ética y sostenibilidad en el sector bancario, por lo que se analizan las medidas llevadas a cabo por los reguladores europeos, en materia de finanzas sostenibles y se propone un indicador propio de banca ética que permite cuantificar y comparar entre diferentes entidades bancarias. De la aplicación de este índice, se comprueba un mayor grado de ética en Triodos Bank, si bien con un menor resultado del esperado.

This project analyzes the emergence and impact of the ethical banking model in the financial system. The main objective is to examine how this new approach proposes an alternative way of banking, advocating ethics and environmental responsibility. To achieve this, the principles guiding ethical banking are examined and compared with the traditional approach, taking Triodos Bank as a benchmark for ethical banking and Santander Bank as a benchmark for traditional banking. To assess whether it is possible to achieve profitability while following ethical conduct, different economic and financial indicators of the two models are analyzed, and the financial services and products offered by each are also compared. Finally, the feasibility of measuring ethics and sustainability in the banking sector is examined, so the measures carried out by European regulators in the field of sustainable finance are analyzed and an own indicator of ethical banking is proposed, which allows quantifying and comparing between different banking entities. The application of this index shows a higher degree of ethics in Triodos Bank, although with a lower result than expected.
