Sistemas contra Incendios a bordo del Volcán De Timanfaya

Abstract

El presente trabajo de fin de grado titulado “Sistemas Contra incendios a bordo del Volcán de Timanfaya” se enfoca en el análisis y evaluación de los sistemas contra incendios implementados en el buque Volcán de Timanfaya, destinado al transporte de personas y carga rodada, perteneciente a la compañía Naviera Armas. Este estudio se llevó a cabo para determinar la eficacia de los sistemas de detección, prevención y extinción de incendios y así garantizar la seguridad de los pasajeros, tripulantes y la integridad del propio buque. El trabajo se realizó a través de una revisión bibliográfica de los sistemas contraincendios del buque. Se evaluaron las características de los sistemas de detección y extinción existentes, así como su capacidad para responder a diferentes escenarios de emergencia. El objetivo principal del trabajo es contribuir a la mejora de la seguridad marítima y prevenir posibles incendios en el buque evaluando la efectividad de los sistemas contra incendios implementados en el buque. También se realiza una revisión exhaustiva de la normativa y regulaciones internacionales aplicables a la prevención y control de incendios, así como del diseño y funcionamiento de los sistemas contra incendios que recoge el buque.

This final degree entitled “Firefighting systems on board the Volcán de Timanfaya” focuses on the analysis and evaluation of the firefighting systems implemented on board the vessel Volcán de Timanfaya, a vessel for the transport of people and ro-ro cargo, belonging to the company Naviera Armas. This study was carried out to determine the effectiveness of fire detection, prevention and extinguishing systems and thus guarantee the safety of passengers, crew and integrity of the vessel itself. The project was carried out through a bibliographic review of the vessel´s fire-fighting systems. The characteristics of the existing detection and extinguishing systems were evaluated, as well as their capacity to respond to different emergency situations. The project´s main objective is to contribute to the improvement of maritime safety and to prevent possible fires on the vessel by evaluating the effectiveness of the fire-fighting systems implemented on the vessel. In addition, an exhaustive review of the international rules and regulations applicable to fire prevention and control is carried out, as well as the design and operation of the vessel´s firefighting systems.
