Zombificación: Una experiencia entre vida y muerte a partir de joyas-parásito.

Abstract

Zombification arises as a need to capture the incoherence of fashion consumption through an artistic proposal where the wearer becomes a recipient for the work, parasitizing it by means of animals that control spontaneous actions of the body. These parasitic animals, which function as jewelry, provoke in the wearer gestures commonly associated with the imaginary of the zombie, exercising uncontrollable and irrational movements due to the pain and discomfort they generate. In this way, the jewelry attached to the body acquires a symbolic meaning by representing beings that take life. Thus, a series of unsightly and dysfunctional jewels condition the wearer as a critique of the consumerist society in which we live. These pieces become parasites that cling to the body of the host, generating a dialogue between the model and the viewer, evidencing the role of death as an allegory of excessive and superficial consumerism in our contemporary western society, focused on the pursuit of beauty and individual and personal satisfaction.

Zombificación surge como una necesidad de plasmar la incoherencia del consumo de moda a través de una propuesta artística en donde el portador se convierte en receptor para la obra, parasitándolo mediante animales que controlan acciones espontáneas del cuerpo. Estos animales parasitarios, que funcionan como joyas, provocan en su portador gestos comúnmente asociados al imaginario del zombie, ejerciendo movimientos incontrolables e irracionales debido al dolor y la incomodidad que estas generan. De este modo, las joyas acopladas al cuerpo adquieren un significado simbólico al representar seres que arrebatan la vida. Surgen así una serie de joyas antiestéticas y disfuncionales que condicionan al portador como crítica a la sociedad consumista en la que vivimos. Estas piezas se convierten en los parásitos que se aferran al cuerpo del huésped, generando un diálogo entre el modelo y el espectador, evidenciando el papel de la muerte como alegoría del consumismo excesivo y superficial en nuestra sociedad contemporánea occidental, centrada en la búsqueda de la belleza y la satisfacción individual y personal.
