Expresiones locales en el turismo rural comunitario de la península de Yucatán, México

Abstract

El turismo rural comunitario impulsado por el estado mexicano se promueve de manera homogénea e indiscriminada a lo largo del territorio sin reconocer las características locales. Partiendo de nuestra perspectiva interdisciplinaria, analizamos expresiones locales incorporadas a la organización y funcionamiento de tres cooperativas ubicadas en el traspaís de Cancún‑Riviera Maya. Encontramos una constelación de tres elementos: la fajina o trabajo colectivo no remunerado; el aprendizaje en la participación familiar en el que todos aportan desde su voluntad e interés; y la distribución de beneficios. Se ha generado un cooperativismo situado que contribuye a su permanencia en condiciones de gran competitividad.

Rural community‑based tourism thanks to Yucatán State incentives in Mexico is promoted in a homogeneous and indiscriminate manner throughout the territory without any acknowledgement of local differentiating characteristics. This study is na interdisciplinar analysis of the local expressions manifest in the organisation and functioning of three cooperatives located in the Cancun‑Riviera Maya hinterland. We found a constellation of three elements: the fajina or unpaid collective work; the apprenticeship in family participation in which everyone contributes to the extent they wish and in whatever takes their interest; and the distribution of benefits. This has generated a form of cooperativismo adapted to the local situation that contributes to its permanence in highly competitive conditions.
