¡Santa, oh Santa Evita! La mujer y el mito a través del audiovisual del siglo XXI

Abstract

Hace poco más de setenta años que Eva Duarte fue vencida por un cáncer, siendo llorada angustiosamente por su amada Argentina y dejando tras de sí un mito que sigue más vivo que nunca. Lejos de quedar en el olvido, Evita vuelve una y otra vez convertida en todo un auténtico icono contemporáneo. El presente trabajo tiene dos objetivos: el primero estriba en señalar la importancia del cine y el teatro como medios de difusión y creación de ideas e identidades; en este caso, de hagiografías políticas que transforman al personaje en icono de indudable fuerza al sublimar sus miserias y heroizar sus triunfos. El segundo desentrañará los elementos claves que se usaron para la creación de la hagiografía de Eva Perón, imagen manipulada donde las haya en la que subyace la figura de una mujer inteligente que gobernó un país amparada en su unión con el general Perón, que a su muerte dejó una influencia imperecedera.

Over seventy years ago, Eva Duarte was defeated by cancer, being mourned by her beloved Argentina and leaving behind her a myth that is still more alive than ever. Far from being forgotten, Evita returns repeatedly as a true contemporary icon. This paper has two objectives: first is to point out the importance of cinema and theatre as a way of spreading and creation of ideas and identities; in this case, of political hagiographies that transform their characters into icons of undoubted strength, sublimating their miseries and heroizing their triumphs. Secondly, we will unravel the key elements that were used to create the hagiography of Eva Perón, a manipulated image who ruled a country protected by her union with General Perón.
