Otros medicamentos para el tratamiento de las enfermedades alérgicas

La adrenalina es el tratamiento de elección para las enfermedades alérgicas más graves, como la anafilaxia y el shock anafiláctico. Existen medicamentos complementarios a los tratamientos habituales en algunas enfermedades alérgicas: los descongestivos nasales, en el caso de la rinitis alérgica; los anticolinérgicos para el asma alérgico, así como los antileucotrienos, indicados tanto para el asma como para la rinitis o el icatibant para el angioedema mediado por bradicininas. Los fármacos biológicos, y entre ellos los anticuerpos monoclonales, han revolucionado el tratamiento de algunas enfermedades alérgicas: el omalizumab (bloqueando la IgE), el mepolizumab, reslizumab y benralizumab (bloqueando la IL-5), o el dupilumab (bloqueando el receptor común a la IL-4/IL-13) son algunos de ellos. Actualmente, se trabaja en la elaboración de productos biosimilares, los cuales son parecidos, aunque de menor coste. JEl icatibant es un fármaco antagonista específico y selectivo de los receptores B2 de la bradicinina, que es un péptido que produce la dilatación de los capilares y la liberación del plasma, y a su vez una hinchazón que se llama angioedema. El icatibant ha sido aprobado para el tratamiento sintomático de las crisis agudas de angioedema hereditario en los adultos.
