El desarrollo tecnológico aplicado a la distribución de contenidos
audiovisuales y los nuevos hábitos de consumo a demanda, han producido una profunda transformación de la industria audiovisual, tanto en
el papel que juegan las audiencias, como en la escritura de los contenidos y la gramática visual, que luego se expande en narrativas transmedia y otros canales. Cerca de 850 millones de hogares en todo el mundo están abonados a las plataformas existentes y en España, según datos
de la CNMC2
, la mitad de los hogares con Internet consumen contenidos audiovisuales en plataformas online de pago, cuyo ritmo de estrenos
alcanzó las 550 series en 2020. Estos contenidos de ficción se consideran
textos reveladores de la impronta de una sociedad, en tanto la ficción,
a partir de personajes y situaciones, favorece la conexión de los espectadores con diversas capas de la realidad. Especialmente de las generaciones más jóvenes, nativas en el entorno multimediático.
Cambian las formas de consumo, las fronteras de la recepción se
amplían en multipantallas y se intensifica la interactividad de audiencia
cada vez más fragmentada, aunque interconectada a través los medios
sociales. Esta variación marca las pautas de la redefinición de los modelos
de negocio de las plataformas que buscan conquistar nuevos mercados.
En este contexto y dada la importante influencia y capacidad de penetración cultural que tienen estos nuevos canales en las opiniones, hábitos y preferencias de los adolescentes, nos interesa indagar qué series de
ficción consumen, cómo lo hacen, por qué son las más demandadas y si
existe interacción con los contenidos, a través de la participación en espacios colaborativos y transmediales. Para responder a estas preguntas, realizamos una encuesta a más de 1.000 estudiantes de secundaria de entre
12 y 17 años, de centros educativos españoles públicos, concertados y privados, laicos y religiosos. Los resultados demuestran un interés común
por las series que invierten los roles del status quo de la sociedad (el bien
y el mal), critican al Estado y legitiman el ataque al sistema, ante la imposibilidad real de otras formas de participación ciudadana.
