favorecer el apoyo a las necesidades psicológicas básicas en el alumnado The aim of this study was to analyze the impact of the application of the Sports
Education in a Learning Situation (LS) model of six sessions on volleyball on the motivation
of high school students, considering the influence of gender. Twenty-three first-year high
school students (12 boys and 11 girls) participated in this experience. To evaluate the
experience, a quasi-experimental design was used from a mixed methodological approach,
in which quantitative data were complemented through the BPN Satisfaction Scale in
Physical Education with the incorporation of Novelty (Trigueros et al., 2019) that was applied
to the students before and after the LS; and qualitative data through the completion of a
structured self-report by the teacher. Significant improvements were seen in the perception
of support for novelty, autonomy and competence. When the results were segregated by
gender, a significant improvement was observed in support for autonomy in female students
and in support for novelty in male students. From the results obtained, it can be deduced that
this pedagogical model proved to be efficient in favoring support for the basic psychological
needs of the students.
