El trastorno de estrés postraumático (TEPT) es una enfermedad mental
relacionada con alteraciones de la sustancia blanca cerebral. Este trabajo tiene como
objetivo principal investigar las posibles modificaciones de la materia blanca en este
trastorno mediante una revisión teórica. Para ello, se han analizado diez estudios
entre 2002 y 2024. Los resultados de esta comparación indican que el volumen y la
integridad de la materia blanca se ven afectadas, específicamente en las estructuras
del hipocampo, la corteza prefrontal, el cuerpo calloso y el cíngulo. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental illness related to alterations
of the cerebral white matter. The main objective of this work is to investigate the
possible modifications of the white matter in this disorder by means of a theoretical
review. For this purpose, ten studies between 2002 and 2024 have been analyzed.
The results of this comparison indicate that the volume and integrity of the white matter
are affected, specifically in the structures of the hippocampus, prefrontal cortex, corpus
callosum and cingulum.
