Abstract

Este artículo pretende descubrir el valor escénico de la Mujer Hermosa y profundizar en su mordaz crítica contra el amor en la vejez, situada en un difícil equilibrio entre la gravedad moral y la burla popular. Este personaje femenino del teatro medieval destapa, además, en su breve intervención, una clara e interesante reivindicación del papel social de la mujer en aquella sociedad en transformación de finales del siglo XV.

This article tries to find out the scenic value of the Beautiful Woman. At the same time, it analyses in depth the sarcastic criticism against love in old age, which is placed in a difficult balance between strong morality and popular mockery. This female character of medieval drama reveals as well, in its brief intervention, a clear and interesting vindication of the social role of women in that changing society at the end of the 15th century.
