AB The aim of the present study is to investigate the linguistic possibilitieswhich the Latin system posses sed to distinguish between the different partsof the day in ancient times. We present numerical series ofhorae and vigiliae which function as nomenclatures and we stucture the different termsincluded in the lexematic paradigm of dies, due to their sharing of the sametemporality.
