AB Self-esteem is a term referring to the value of oneself that plays a fundamental role inthe school situation and, at the same time, in academic performance. It is necessary toknow if students know the meaning of self-esteem, its structure, the influential factorsof performance and the possible relationship between self-esteem and performance.For this reason, we have used two instruments, a questionnaire for students and asurvey for teachers in order to know their perspective of their students. This made usverify that the students know the term self-esteem but they are not so clear when itcomes to academic performance as they consider that it is a consequence other externalfactors.
