AB In the past, livestock were fed the pastures that were obtained by cultivating the land,but this practice has been lost over time. Economic activity has also been changed,resulting in the abandonment of crop areas, along with the change in livestock feed.This work is carried out as a proposal for livestock uses in abandoned crop areas basedon the analysis of the effect of a set of pasture improvement treatments on primaryproductivity and animal preferences. To carry out this proposal, a test was carried out ona plot on the Las Llanadas estate, owned by the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, in themunicipality of Los Realejos in Tenerife, four forage species and a herd of goats wereused. For the treatments, an inventory of the species in the test area was carried out andthe treatments were applied to the different plots and finally the livestock were taken tostudy the feeding behaviour of the test. With the results of the treatments, we obtainedwhich of them is the most productive and the one that generates less costs when applied.With the results of feeding behavior, the animals’ preference for vegetation structures isobtained.
