AB This Masters Final Proyect is presented with the intention of studying on atheorical and experimental level the use of the BIM (Building InformationModeling) methodology, yet to be widespread in this sector in Spain but in forcein many other countries, in a construction proyect and its design phase and itsposterior aplication in the execution phase.The BIM tecnology is able to probe its efficacy in the initial phases of theproyect, where it’s capable of reducing the inconsistencies betwen the manyareas and parts of the proyect.The intention is to go beyond the theorical definition and explanation and tostate the advantages and disadvantages that comes with the use of thistechnology in a real case scenario, in addition to help improving its executionprocess.A digital model of the proyect’s many disciplines is builded with the use of theBIM methodology and the information of an already developed design withtraditional methodology based on computer aided design (CAD) of anapartment building’s construction proyect in Santa Cruz of Tenerife.With the objective of testing the model’s interoperability, the apartmentbuilding’s construction proyect has been modeled with the Autodesk Revitsoftware and later it has been exported to IFC (Industry Foundation Classes).Additionally, the use of different viewers that allow to implement theconstruction’s execution phase are tested. Thus it is intended that thealterations that may occur could be managed in a simple and effective mannerby the company responsible through the BIM tecnology.
