AB The establishment and implementation of the educational system in the Canary Islands isa long and slow process initiated in the XVIII century. It is not well known yet because thereare not many systematic research studies. In this article we attemp to contribute to knowbetter the time without history of the first decades of the nineteenth century in the CanaryIslands. We try to clarify the school statistics of 1835, signalling its importance, validityand limitations.
