Since year 2004 until now, the Canary Islands Government has implementeddifferent types of bilingual education at schools. Nowadays, two main bilingual educationprojects are coexisting in the Canary Islands educational system; the CLIL programmeand the PILE (Foreign Language Boost Plan). Their main tenets and evolution throughtime are a reflection of bilingual educational trends from Europe and Spain. The aim ofthis paper is to analyse and compare both bilingual projects to determine their featuresand evolution, as well as the potential improvements PILE has implemented. In order todo this, a list of potential quality indicators has been developed, based on all the agentsand elements that take part in both projects (students, teachers, families, schools, etc.);thus strong and weak points were properly identified and described.
