AB The pardon has coexisted in our legal system for centuries. Its regulationand justification have been increasingly questioned. Does the pardon fitinto current law? In the present work we will make a brief historicaloverview of the right of grace, specifically pardon. It will help us tounderstand the reasons that open the most recent discussions and analyzethe Law of 1870. We will also know the crimes excluded from theprerogative, not only the reasons, also their defenders and detractors. Alsostudy the pardons granted in 2020 to obtain information from the realityof pardons in our country. Analyzing the proposals for change, theshortcomings of its regulation and its application of Spanish law will givean answer to whether today, as we known pardon in Spain, the institutionis effective.
