AB The main objective of this study is to provide a systematic analysis of dataprotection in the Eurpean Union and the Council of Europe throughouthistory by studying its regulations, focusing mainly on Regulation769/2016 as opposed to the old regulation and noting the main differencesand major changes introduced by it.In addition, the various bodies and institutions responsible for managingand ensuring the correct processing of personal data will be discussed, aswell as the proper control of the data in accordance with the principles,duties, powers and obligations to be respected through the tools providedby the data protection regulations, with a special mention of the DataProtection Officer.Finally, the protection of personal data in the health field will be addressed,especially after the pandemic situation in which we find ourselves havingintroduced modifications in this field which are currently creatingcontroversy as to where the boundary between the confidentiality of recordsand the need for information.
