AB The purpose of this paper is to study human trafficking for the purpose oflabor exploitation, since it is considered to be the new slavery of the 21stcentury. We will focus specifically on the regulations developed at theinternational level, but specifically in the European framework. We willanalyze the international legal framework covering most of the States, inorder to delve into the existing legal instruments to prevent, combat andprosecute human trafficking for the purpose of labor exploitation. Thevarious legal instruments to be analyzed in this work are: the Conventionon Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, the Charter ofFundamental Rights of the European Union, Framework Decision2022/629/JAI and Directive 2011/36/UE. In addition to the legalinstruments, three cases will be studied where the decisions to be taken bythe European Court of Human Rights will help us to understand thephenomenon of trafficking in human beings.
