One potential solution for this problem is the implementation of the semantic web, a relatively new tool, with potential to interconnect documentation, information, concepts and content in general. For what is worth to us, the open source Protégé will allow us to create an ontologic system that can be used to generate a register of engineering activities, or as a consulting/learning software. The implementation object of this Bachelor’s degree final project will make usage of the set of tools offered by Protégé to create an ontology that allows to register electrical installations collected and classified in the Low tension electrotechnics Regulation (REBT), using the criteria defined in the technical instructions or through the elements that compose the installation. This will let us consult information of interest via search engine or access said information navigating the class hierarchy tree. We will also comment the possibility to generate a consultation and learning system using the classes structure presented by the ontology. Throughout this memory, we will detail certain key concepts such as classes, instances, object properties and data properties among others. In the same way, we will comment the criteria behind the elaboration process of the ontology, being this point important to understand one of the main strengths of the semantic web, which is the freedom offered to the user to generate diverse solutions to different problems. The last part of the memory will cement the consistency of the ontology using the Semantic Web Rule Language (SWRL Rules), which will allow the ontology for exponentially increasing its learning capabilitie.
