Los rumbos historiográficos de la fotohistoria de España: pasado, presente y futuro

Abstract

Con más de un cuarto de siglo de perspectiva de la historiografía de la fotografía en España, gozamos de una visión considerable de lo que se ha logrado, de las tendencias fotohistóricas actuales, y de cuál pudiera ser la dirección más constructiva a emprender para el futuro. Lo que sigue pone énfasis en que tanto el tema fotográfico como la fotohistoria con frecuencia están enfocados en lo local, y así merecen revalorarse en otros términos, para que la fotografía de España y la realizada por españoles figuren de modo significativo dentro de las fotohistorias globales. La actual estructura política del país ha ejercido en contra de dicha finalidad, mientras ha promocionado muchos resultados francamente buenos a nivel regional. Sin embargo, no es ni obligatorio ni aconsejable que se mantenga dicha norma historiográfica.

With over a quarter-century of the historiography of photography in Spain behind us, we now have considerable perspective on what was achieved, what are current historiographic trends, and what might be the constructive direction to take at this point. The following underscores the fact that both photographic subject and photohistory are often locally focused and merit re-evaluation in different terms, in order for the photography of Spain and by Spaniards to figure more meaningfully in global photohistories. Spain’s current political structure has worked against this end, while it has fostered many excellent results on the regional level, but this need not persist, nor is it advisable that it persist, as Spain’s historiographic norm.
