Turismo solidario: la forma más emocional de viajar

Abstract

En los últimos años, el turismo solidario ha ido ganando cada vez más protagonismo y ya son muchas las personas que realizan este tipo de viajes. Esta tendencia turística surge para paliar las principales desventajas del turismo de masas y se basa no solo el disfrute personal del viajero sino en la mejora del ecosistema y de las poblaciones locales de los destinos. Las motivaciones que llevan a los turistas a realizar este tipo de viajes son variadas, aunque la gran mayoría coincide en lo mismo: la solidaridad y la necesidad de ayudar a los demás. Actualmente, esta modalidad se enfrenta a críticas que ponen en tela de juicio su carácter alternativo y sostenible. Por esta razón, es necesario gestionarla adecuadamente con el fin de mitigar algunas de sus repercusiones y convertirla así en una gran herramienta hacia un turismo más justo y responsable.

In recent years, solidarity tourism has been gaining more and more prominence and there are already many people who make this type of trip. This tourist trend is emerging to alleviate the main disadvantages of mass tourism and is based not only on the personal enjoyment of the traveller but also on the improvement of the ecosystem and the local populations of the destinations. The motivations that lead tourists to carry out this type of trips are varied, although the vast majority agree on the same thing: the ability to help others. Currently, this modality faces criticism that calls into question its alternative and sustainable nature. For this reason, it needs to be properly managed in order to mitigate some of its effects and thus make it a great fool for fairer and more responsible tourism.
