No
This paper presents an investigation that has had as its object of study the analysis of the
perception of the self-compassion strategy in young university students, and the
difference between the possible implications for Social Work students compared to
university students of other degrees. Within the implemented methodology, a quantitative
data collection instrument has been used, specifically the adaptation to Spanish of the
scale called "Self- Compassion scale" (SCS), developed by Neff (2003). Likewise,
sociodemographic data has been collected, such as the age, sex, and university degree of
each participant. The questionnaire has been answered by a total of 72 participants (65
women, 29 men and one person who prefers not to determinate their sex).
According to the results obtained, regarding the perception of the self-compassion
strategy, they show that there is confusion about its purpose. However, the most
significant results, in relation to the subscales opposed to self-compassion (Selfjudgment, isolation, and over-identification) that make up the SCS, show that "about half
the time", when they see aspects of themselves/ they don't like them, they continually
criticize themselves, when they fail at something that is important to them, they tend to
feel alone in their failure, and, finally, when something bothers them, they let their
feelings take over. Finally, according to the above, it is worth highlighting as main
conclusions, the importance of receiving training on the self-compassion strategy in the
academic field.
