Introduction: Lung cancer (LC) is the cancer with the highest mortality in the world, affecting
both men and women, with a low prevalence. In Spain and the Canary Islands it occupies the
third place of cancers in both sexes and the second cause of death. In general, there are two
types of PC: small cell (microcytic) and non-small cell (non-microcytic), the latter being the most
common. The most relevant risk factor in PC is tobacco.
Objectives: to collect articles with scientific evidence that relate the care needs of patients with
lung cancer, with the purpose of recognizing the physical, psychosocial and emotional
deficiencies that affect quality of life.
Methodology: A systematic review has been carried out using PuntoQ, a search and discovery
tool for bibliographic resources of the Library of the University of La Laguna, through which the
different articles found in the "PubMed" databases have been accessed. , IBECS, Cuiden,
SciELO Spain, Cochrane Plus, BDENF”. The dates of the articles were taken into account from
2012 to 2022. The level of evidence and the degree of recommendation were evaluated with the
Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI); the CASPe was also used for critical reading.
Results: After performing an exhaustive search, a total of 142 articles were obtained, of which
122 were excluded for not meeting the inclusion criteria, so that 20 articles were selected, 6
were systematic reviews, 4 cross-sectional descriptive studies, 3 trials clinical, 3 retrospective
cohort study, 2 qualitative, 1 meta-analysis and finally 1 longitudinal descriptive study.
