El reto de la ciudadanía intercultural: Perspectivas educativas

Abstract

Con este artículo tratamos de presentar una cuestión que unida a la formación de maestras y maestros nos parece de una relevancia indiscutible: la formación para la ciudadanía intercultural. Somos conscientes de que, en la actualidad, la construcción de la ciudadanía puede abordarse desde múltiples disciplinas y enfoques. Nosotros lo haremos desde la dimensión educativa, aun reconociendo que muchos de los programas e iniciativas serán inviables si tales planteamientos no vienen acompañados de un cambio político y social. En este trabajo, señalaremos algunos escenarios socioculturales que nos obligan a plantear la ciudadanía intercultural. Analizaremos también las respuestas que se están dando desde la escuela a esta nueva realidad. El objetivo principal del artículo es presentar algunas líneas educativas para la formación de maestros que tienen especial significación en nuestro tiempo.

With this article we will deal with a question which, together with the formation of teachers, seems to us of unquestionable relevance: the formation for an intercultural citizenship. We are aware that at present the construction of citizenship can be tackled from varied disciplines and approaches. We are going to do it from the educational dimension, admitting the fact that many of the existing programs and initiatives are not viable if such approaches are not accompanied with social and political changes. In this particular work, we are going to point out some socio-cultural settings which force us to propose the issue on intercultural citizenship. We are also going to analyze the responses which are showing up from the classrooms to this new reality. The main objective of this article is to present some educational designs for the formation of teachers who play a significant and special role in our present time.
