Abstract

En este artículo, nos centramos en el análisis de la definición que Samuel Gili Gaya propuso del concepto de ‘oración’ en el Curso Superior de Sintaxis Española (1961), con el fin de establecer el vínculo existente entre las teorías más tradicionales y otras más recientes, como los enfoques textuales, pasando por aportaciones desde perspectivas diversas y, en cierto modo, coexistentes (formalista, funcionalista, etc.). A partir del estudio de la teoría de Gili Gaya, su enfoque y las fuentes, en la parte central del artículo exponemos de qué modo autores de la segunda mitad del siglo XX han acogido estas teorías y cómo las han adaptado a sus respectivos enfoques. Nuestra tesis inicial es la consideración de que la contribución de Gili Gaya, no condicionada por limitaciones de escuelas, puede ser un puente que une los enfoques más tradicionales con contribuciones más acordes con las propuestas más tardías del siglo XX.

In this article, we will concentrate on analysing the definition, proposed by Samuel Gili Gaya in his Curso Superior de Sintaxis Española (Advanced Course of Spanish Syntax) (1961), of the concept of ‘sentence,’ with the aim of establishing the link that exists between the most traditional, and other more recent theories, like textual approaches, as well as contributions from diverse perspectives and, to a certain extent, co-existent (formalist, functionalist, etc.). From the study of Gili Gaya’s theory, its approach and the sources, in the central part of the article we set out how authors of the second half of the 20th century have received these theories and how they have adapted them to their respective approaches. Our initial theory is the consideration that Gili Gaya’s contribution, not conditioned by school restrictions, can be a point that links the most traditional approaches with contributions most in agreement with the proposals of the late 20th century.
