On the island of La Palma there is an autochthonous breed of goat, the goat of the Palmera breed. It is a fundamental pillar in the economy of the primary sector of the island, generating employment and wealth. It is a breed with great roots and very adapted to the island, producing from your milk a cheese of great value within the D.O.P Cheese Palmero. In this work of end of degree the daily average gain is studied and the associated data to the goat growth of the race Palmera, being these data some technical indexes of great value for the study of a race, and the verification of the existing genetic potential in each farm for the improvement intra-herd. The study had the collaboration of 3 farms that provided a total of 45 animals. Farms A and C have a semi-extensive and technical management, while Farm B is a farm of almost extensive traditional management. Each animal was weighed from birth to 70 days on a weekly basis, and the relevant reliable data on it, sex, type of birth and number of births of the mother were recorded. The birth weight was 3.16kg, the final weight 9.76kg, and the average daily gain for the period studied 95.34g. Significant differences were determined between farms in all periods, for weight and average daily gain. The type of birth and the number of births of the mother were significant in the initial stage, but at the end of the period there were no differences in weight or average daily gain between them. Birth weight was the other factor that had a significant influence during the whole period and for all the analyzed values.
