Le lion, l’étoile y l’hélice: estudio descriptivo de la metáfora en textos técnicos franceses del ámbito de la automoción y de su traducción al español

Abstract

Technical texts are usually characterized by the use of terminology, and they are said to be clear, concise, precise and objective. It is terminology which is normally considered one of the most important difficulties to understand specialized concepts because they are expressed by means of this terminology. Nevertheless, there are other linguistic and cognitive elements which are frequently used to express specialized concepts, for instance, metaphors. In this paper we aim to analyze the use of cognitive metaphors in a corpus of French semi-specialized technical texts and to consider whether the use of these metaphors could be a problem should these metaphors have to be translated into Spanish.

Les textes techniques se caractérisent normalement par l’emploi d’une terminologie et parce qu’ils sont clairs, concis, précis et objectifs. On considère habituellement que la terminologie est l’une des difficultés les plus importantes dans la compréhension des concepts spécialisés, étant donné que c’est justement cette terminologie qui transmet les connaissances spécialisées. Néanmoins, il y a d’autres éléments linguistiques et cognitifs qui sont habituellement employés pour transmettre des concepts spécialisés, comme, par exemple, la métaphore. Dans cette contribution nous visons à analyser l’emploi de la métaphore cognitive dans des textes techniques français semi-spécialisés et d’essayer d’établir si cet emploi pourrait rendre difficile leur traduction vers l’espagnol.
