Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder characterized by a series of
distortions within which thoughts, perceptions, emotions, self- awareness and
behavior are affected, but it should be noted the alterations that present within
the language, such as their linguistic and communicative capacities.
This type of disorder requires a comprehensive approach within its
intervention, due to its difficulties present in the different areas of the life of the
sufferer. This is done through a multidisciplinary team formed by psychiatry,
psychology, nursing, social work and sometimes occupational therapy, but the
place of the speech therapist within it is omitted.
The intervention of this disorder requires a comprehensive approach, due
to its difficulties present in the different areas of the life of the sufferer.
Therefore, it´s necessary that it be carried out through a multidisciplinary team
made up of different professionals, such as doctors, psychologists, nurses,
social workers and sometimes occupational therapists, being frequent to forget
the role of the speech therapist within this team.
Language is vital for the human being, so this program was developed
with the aim of projecting the need for integration of speech therapy within the
team responsible for the intervention of the pathology. Thus, the following

A real case will be presented, describing the evaluation, description and
intervention aimed at improving language.
