Trayecto y lugares de la migración irregular africana en Canarias (2020-2021): una aproximación etnográfica crítica multisituada

Abstract

The arrival of African migrants through maritime migratory routes to the Canary Islands in 2020 and 2021 increases in number compared to previous years. The way in which this situation is treated institutionally exceeds many human rights both in the border territory and within the national territory. In the territory there are different reception camps with negligent conditions, where migrants are transported and held without being able to move freely through other spaces that involve taking a plane or a boat. Faced with this violation of rights and racist treatment by the institutions, a social movement is formed that materializes in different support networks. In this context, I place a multisite ethnographic study that gathers both migrant subjectivities and those that structure the support networks. The ethnographic discourse is understood in an intersubjective way, constructing a narrative that makes visible the different forms of institutional racism and possible causes of irregular migration by sea to the Canary Islands.

La llegada de migrantes africanos a través de las vías migratorias marítimas a las islas Canarias en los años 2020 y 2021 aumenta en número con respecto a los años anteriores. La manera que se trata institucionalmente esta situación sobrepasa numerosos Derechos Humanos tanto en el territorio fronterizo como dentro del territorio nacional. En el territorio se asientan diferentes campamentos de acogida con condiciones negligentes, donde son transportados los migrantes y se retienen sin poder transitar libremente por otros espacios que supongan coger un avión o un barco. Ante esta vulneración de derechos y trato racista por parte de las instituciones se conforma un movimiento social que se materializa en diferentes redes de apoyo. En este contexto, desarrollo un estudio etnográfico multisituado que recoge tanto subjetividades migrantes como las que estructuran las redes de apoyo. El discurso etnográfico se entiende de manera intersubjetiva, construyendo un relato que visibiliza las distintas formas de racismo institucional y posibles causas de la migración irregular vía marítima que llega a las Islas Canarias.
