Gender violence is very present in the culture of occidental society. It's cultural origin spawn in
Classical Antiquity by being portrayed in Greece and Rome's mythology. As an example of this,
kidnapping is an action they repeat numerously throughout myths and that had great importance
in Greek and Latin society, fact that can be noted by its influence in bridal rites as well as in the
relation that is stablished between kidnapping and death. As a result, myths act as the conducting
and normalizing agent of these violent behaviours. Lastly, this kidnapping tradition is not only
present in classical societies but also in different cultures around the world, siding in form and
purpose.
