racista y sexista. In the present article, the perception of humor was investigated, depending on
the activation or not of the moral identity of each person. For this purpose, a study was
carried out in which the participants, divided into two groups, had to rate the
humorousness of the jokes presented to them.
The research involved 42 participants divided into 2 experimental conditions. 3
main instruments were used: the Aquino and Reed moral identity scale, a daily habits
scale, and a set of jokes divided into morally transgressive and non-transgressive.
The main hypothesis sought that the offending jokes would result in lower
scores in the moral identity activation group than in the control group. The second
hypothesis tried to verify if there were differences between the offending jokes
according to the group they transgressed against. Although differences were found
between the jokes, the results showed that these were not due to the group of
participants. On the other hand, morally transgressive jokes referring to the physically
disabled people were rated higher than jokes with racist and sexist themes.
