El señorío juanmanuelino. Fundamentos y límites del poder aristocrático en las obras de don Juan Manuel (Castilla, S. XIV)

Abstract

The idea of lordship in don Juan Manuel cannot be other than aristocratic, this is evidenced in an enormous number of studies that have been dedicated to him in one way or another. However, in some of them it can be noticed that justice occupies a central place in the development of his thinking. In this paper, we address, starting from the problem of justice, a conceptual development that, going through punishment and free will, recognizes in the judiciary the capacity to distribute resources, benefits, and penalties in a feudal logic. In Manueline stately thought, justice, power, and knowledge are tied together to displace discourses without seeming subversive of tradition. Under traditional clothing, he hides a criticism on the power of a king that he wished concentrate the power of the kingdom.

La idea del señorío en don Juan Manuel no puede ser de otro modo que aristocrática, esto se evidencia en una enorme cantidad de estudios que a él se han dedicado de una u otra manera. Sin embargo, algunos pocos han notado que la justicia ocupa un lugar central en el desarrollo de su pensamiento. En este artículo abordamos, a partir de la problemática de la justicia, un desarrollo conceptual que, pasando por la pena y el libre albedrío, reconoce en la judicatura la capacidad de distribuir recursos, beneficios y penas en una lógica feudal. En el pensamiento señorial manuelino, la justicia, el poder y el saber se anudan para desplazar discursos sin, por ello, parecer un subversivo de la tradición. Bajo un ropaje tradicional, escondía una crítica al poder de un rey que deseaba concentrar el poder del reino.
