Ruinas en la isla de Tenerife

Abstract

Esta investigación de trabajo de fin de grado, trata de explorar los espacios abandonados en la isla de Tenerife. No solo busca, a través de una propuesta pictórica mostrar la belleza de las imperfecciones y el encanto de estos sitios, sino hablar de un proceso que tiene muchísima más complejidad, que es comprender la historia de un sitio, qué era antes y qué es ahora, a qué procesos ha sido sometido desde su abandono y cuales han sido las causas. Tenerife es un lugar muy particular y concreto, que tiene muchos edificios en ruinas, ¿cuál es la explicación? En este trabajo daremos con las respuestas, llevando al espectador, a través de una serie de cuadros, a un recorrido por las ruinas más icónicas de la isla. Pero antes se debe poner en contexto el uso del concepto de la ruina a través de la historia, ¿dónde tiene sus orígenes? ¿cómo ha ido evolucionando a través de los siglos? ¿Cómo ha sido representada en el arte? Se elaborará pues, una línea cronológica en la cual iremos avanzando hasta llegar a día de hoy, tratando de dar respuesta a todas estas cuestiones.

This end-of-grade project research tries to explore the abandoned spaces on the island of Tenerife. It not only seeks, through a pictorial proposal, to show the beauty of the imperfections and the charm of these sites, but also to talk about a process that is much more complex, which is to understand the history of a site, what it was before and what it is today. Now, to what processes has it been subjected to since its abandonment and what have been the causes. Tenerife is a very particular and concrete place, which has many buildings in ruins, what is the explanation? In this work we will find the answers, taking the viewer, through a series of paintings, on a tour of the most iconic ruins on the island. But first, the use of the concept of ruin throughout history must be put into context. Where does it have its origins? How has it evolved through the centuries? How has it been represented in art? Therefore, a chronological line will be elaborated in which we will advance until today, trying to answer all these questions.
