El alumnado inmigrante: educación intercultural/educación inclusiva

Abstract

Nos encontramos ante una sociedad cada vez más plural y diversa, una sociedad multicultural, que requiere de una nueva perspectiva de educación, una educación intercultural como enfoque educativo de carácter inclusivo. En España, en los últimos 40 años, se ha producido un elevado incremento en el número de personas extranjeras con estatus de residentes; este aumento del número de inmigrantes, se ha reflejado en la composición social del sistema educativo español. En este sentido, la presencia del alumnado extranjero en nuestro sistema educativo hace necesario que la oferta formativa deba ser mucho más rica en consonancia con la diversidad cultural del alumnado que integra las aulas, fomentándose el llevar a cabo una educación basada en la interculturalidad, valorando este plurilingüismo cultural como valor enriquecedor para la convivencia y que sea capaz de promover actitudes de tolerancia y respeto. Se trata pues, de desarrollar una educación intercultural, que atienda a la diversidad, considerándola como un enriquecimiento cultural y como respuesta a las necesidades de nuestra sociedad multicultural.

We are facing an increasingly plural and diverse society, a multicultural society, which requires a new perspective on education, an intercultural education, as an inclusive educational approach. In Spain, in the last 40 years, there has been a high increase in the number of foreign with resident status; this increase in the number of immigrants has been reflected in the social composition of the Spanish educational system. In this sense, the presence of foreign students in our educational system makes it necessary that the training offer must be much richer in line with the cultural diversity of the students that make up the classrooms, promoting the implementation of an education based on interculturality, valuing this cultural multilingualism as an enriching value for coexistence and that is capable of promoting attitudes of tolerance and respect. It is therefore about developing an intercultural education that caters for diversity, as a cultural enrichment and as a response to the needs of our multicultural society
