Full metal jacket: versiones en español y en latino

Abstract

Full metal jacket (1987), la afamada película de Stanley Kubrick, incluye expresiones del inglés coloquial y ofensivo por parte del sargento Hartman. Existen dos versiones en español: castellano y latino. Su comparación muestra si ofrecen una adaptación en español internacional, que podría ser comprendido por todos los hispanohablantes. Se ofrecen resultados en relación con la densidad léxica y la longitud promedio de los enunciados de cada una de las dos traducciones y de cada uno de los dos doblajes del inglés. Se presentan además datos de los vocablos. Se concluye que el subtitulaje y el doblaje para el español oriental –variante castellana– y los correspondientes a la del español occidental –variante mexicana– no son necesarios, pues ambas pueden ser comprendidas adecuadamente en los dos espacios limitados por el meridiano 30°.

Full metal jacket (1987), Kubrick’s famous film, offers a significant number of expressions of colloquial and offensive English by Sergeant Hartman. There are two versions in Spanish: Castilian and Latin American. Its comparison shows to what extent each of those versions offers an adaptation in international Spanish, which could be understood by all Spanish speakers. This research offers results in relation to the lexical density and average length of the utterances in each of the two translations and each of the two dubbings from the English. It also presents data on the affiliation of the words. Conclusions show that subtitling and dubbing for the eastern Spanish –Castilian variant– and the western Spanish –Mexican variant– are not necessary, since both versions can be adequately understood in the two regions limited by the 30° meridian.
